Orion Spa is a company based in Trieste with a long tradition in the design and production of steel
valves for the petrochemical, chemical and energy industries.
Established in the early 1950s, at the height of the difficult post-war reconstruction period, Orion has
been able to develop know-how and acquire experience that still represents today a great heritage to
the society. In 1996 the company became part of the Metalfar Group, owned by the Farina Family. The
acquisition has given new impetus to the activity, triggering important synergies. In fact, the Farina
Family have been operating in the field of flanges, pipes and fittings for the chemical and petrochemical
industry for 60 years.
Today Orion (with a plant in Trieste’s Industrial Zone) covers an area of 35,000 square meters and
employs 158 people, with a turnover of around 60 million Euros.
With its specialization, excellent communication skills with customers and qualified relationships with
management engineering companies, continuous investment to achieve technological excellence and
expansion with the purchase of new companies such as SAIPH in Trieste, a company based in the
historic Stock Factory, and other international production units such as those in Russia and Saudi
Arabia.
Orion is focused on innovation and major investment in Research & Development which corresponds
to 10 percent of its turnover, largely coming from the Company’s finances.
The company produces valves from two-inches in size, ranging from about 20kg weight up to 100 tons.
The range of products is suitable for both onshore and offshore applications and includes:
Gate, Globe and Check Valves, according to the international specifications API 6A (PSL 1, 2, 3,3G) -
API 6D - API 6DSS - API 600 - API 594 - ASME - BS. From 2 “to 100”, Class ASME B16-34 from 150
# to 2500 #. Materials in carbon, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, hastalloy, titanium.
The company is known throughout the world for its excellence, with over 80% of production destined
for international markets (mostly in oil-producing countries such as Saudi Arabia, U.A.E, Kuwait, Oman).
Orion is qualified and approved by the world’s major oil companies such as ADCO, ADGAS, ADMAOPCO,
British Petroleum, BAPCO, ConocoPhillips, Enel, Eni, ExxonMobil, Gasco, Inpex Operations
Australia, KNPC, KOC, Lukoil, Petroleum Development Oman, PDVSA, Petrobras, Petronas, Qatar
Petroleum, Qatargas, Rosneft, Rasgas, Saudi Aramco, Shell, Statoil, Total, TransCanada, Tupras,
Woodside, Zadco and the most important Engineering and Construction Companies.
The numerous Quality Certifications obtained - ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004, OHSAS 18001:
2007, TUV, PeD - are testament to the attention given to the quality of the product, extending from
the choice of Raw Material to strict final controls (using PMI, UT, MPI, DPI, Radiographic Examinations,
Hardness and Paint control).
